Confession: I enjoying being an English major in part because I enjoy the ridiculous, but great,  validation of name-dropping authors and texts and getting responses like,

Oh, Shakespeare? That’s intense I could never do that I’m so impressed, want a blowjob?”

or

Wowsers, you’re writing an entire feminist analysis on the ugly little sister that no one likes from ‘Pride and Prejudice?’ Tots cool bro!”

But now, I’m writing a paper on Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and I’m constantly dodging questions because people react like this: “Lulz you write paper on Disney that’s super ‘tarded.’” And then I want to be all like “Shut your whore mouth, in a Marxist lens Alice is totally the subverting proletariat class rising against the state hegemony of the land-owning gentry ie the Queen of Hearts.”

Alas, I just lower my head in shame and console myself knowing that I will be making $30,000 a year until  die.

le sigh
